Keeping people safe
Tek Ura works with children, young people and adults with disabilities, and we welcome volunteers, interns and church teams from the UK. We believe it is always unacceptable for anyone to experience abuse of any kind. Keeping people safe is part of how we love our neighbours.
How we keep people safe
One policy for everyone
Our Child Safeguarding Policy applies to everyone who works on behalf of Tek Ura — board members, staff, regular volunteers and visitors. It is reviewed every year. A separate policy covers safeguarding adults.
Checked before they start
Everyone who joins our team, paid or voluntary, has a background check before they begin. For Albanian nationals this is a police certificate; for people from abroad, the relevant disclosure documents. Anyone who refuses a check cannot work or volunteer with us.
Signed and trained
Every new team member and volunteer reads and signs our safeguarding policy, and the whole team is trained in child protection at the start of each year.
Visitors always accompanied
Visitors, including short-term church teams, are always accompanied by a member of the Tek Ura team when they are with children.
