Tek Ura is an Albanian Christian community working alongside the most marginalised people in Tirana and Durrës — a community of faith, community centres, and development programmes that help people belong, grow and flourish.

What we do
We recruit, deploy and support small teams who develop community centres and learning hubs as "bridges" into holistic mission in areas of deprivation and marginality.
We make a real and lasting difference to local people — promoting community cohesion, encouraging healthier lifestyles, improving access to education, tackling isolation and addressing the root causes of poverty. Our locally-based employees and volunteers deliver targeted projects that benefit residents from every walk of life. Founded in 2016 by British Baptist mission workers Dan and Annie Dupree together with Albanian partners, we are a registered Albanian charity (NIPT L61405452M).

How we're governed
Tek Ura is a registered Albanian NGO led by a board of trustees, supported by a UK Council of Supporters and our sister charity At the Bridge — with a deliberate transition towards Albanian ownership at every level of leadership. Our board is currently UK-based and includes our two co-founders. As part of our 2024–28 plan, we are working towards Albanian trustees on our board by 2028, building on the appointment of our first Albanian non-executive advisors in 2026.
Our trustees are the people legally responsible for Tek Ura. They establish our vision, mission and values; set strategy and review progress against the 2024–28 plan; delegate to the leadership team and hold them well; ensure financial accountability, safeguarding and legal compliance; and act as advocates and bridge-builders — championing the handover of leadership to the Albanian team. They serve voluntarily.
In 2026 we appointed our first Albanian non-executive advisors — a significant step towards local ownership. They bring the voice and operational insight of the Albanian team into governance, without carrying the full legal duties of a trustee.
Our Council of Supporters
Alongside the board, our Council of Supporters is a community of individuals, families and churches across the UK — from the south coast to Scotland — who invest in the mission through prayer, giving, fundraising, governance input and mission visits. The Council doesn't hold legal responsibility for Tek Ura, but plays a vital role: connecting the Albanian work with a wider family who care deeply about what we're building, in a relationship of accountability and mutual encouragement with the board.

At the Bridge — our UK sister charity
Launched in 2024, At the Bridge resources and mobilises people in the UK for mission — in Albania and on their own doorsteps. It runs a faith-funded internship programme (2–3 week, 6-month and 12-month placements), with Vale Community Church as a UK host base — a living expression of our goal to be globally connected.
